Stirred by the opioid crisis, state legislatures began enacting E-Prescribing laws which required prescriptions for certain medicines to be sent electronically to the pharmacy. The notion was that electronic transmission would cut down on fraudulent paper transactions.
Below is a chart indicating the status of E-Prescribing laws in the various states. PRI believes that this chart is accurate as of March 2020. Several states have legislation pending on such laws but most legislatures have suspended operations due to the COVID-19 crisis.
